In Loving Memory Of Our Precious Ones
Gone But Never Forgotten

I'm Still Here

I stood beside your bed last night
I came to have a peek
I could see that you were crying
You found it hard to sleep

I whined to you softly
As you brushed away a tear
"It's me, I haven't left you,
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast
I watched you pour the tea
You were thinking of the many times
Your hands reached down to me

I was with you at the shops today
Your arms were getting sore
I longed to take your parcels
I wish I could do more

I was with you at my grave today
You tend it with such care
I want to reassure you
That I'm not lying there

I walked with you toward the house
As you fumbled for your key
I gently put my paw on you
I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired
And sank into a chair
I tried so hard to let you know
That I was standing there

It's possible for me to be
So near you everyday
To say to you with certainty
"I never went away."

You sat there very quietly
Then you smiled, I think you knew
In the stillness of that evening
I was very close to you.

The day is over...
I smile and watch you yawning
And say "Good night, God bless,
I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right
For you to cross the brief divide
I'll rush across to greet you
And we'll stand side by side

I have so many things to show you
There is so much for you to see
Be patient, live your journey out
And then come home to be with me

Bandit

We lost our precious Bandit, also affectionately called Big Daddy, February 10, 2010.
Bandit had to be euthanised as he had a massive stroke or seizure and was left unable to move or function. He was 15 years old and the first baby rescued.
He was rescued as a Chow mix puppy with parvo. He survived parvo and later developed seizures, which he had and lived with for his entire life. He never got adopted and became a permanent resident of ADR.
He loved life. No dog loved riding in the car, the boat or swimming more. He was a constant friend and companion to everyone at ADR. He was loved dearly by all.
Bandit was a "daddy" to all of the little rescues that arrived at ADR. He developed the nickname "big daddy" because of his size and fatherly role to all the dogs that arrived at the rescue. He loved each and every one and they all loved him. He was gentle with them and they all adored him. He was everyone's comfort and joy.
For the past year Bandit's health declined rapidly and the last few months he had to be carried quite often as he was unable to walk. He still loved to eat and always knew when there was food cooking. He would try his best to make it into the kitchen but we generally had to carry our 70 lb. teddy bear wherever he wanted to go and we were so happy to do so. Every minute we had with our beautiful boy was a blessing.

As you have now taken your final ride, our beautiful Bandit, may God welcome you into his loving arms and hold you and keep you.
You are sorely missed and eternally loved.
Until we meet again..........goodbye my friend...........
Love, Laurie

Sumei

Sumei left our lives for heaven on February 22, 2010.

Each day we were privileged to be able to love you was a gift from God.
We will see you in a better place one day, our dear, sweet baby, Sumei.
With broken hearts we say......
Until we see you again........
Goodbye, my very best friend........I will love you until the day I die and beyond.............
Love, Laurie

Zeke

Zeke was a 5 lb. puppy mill rescue. He died soon after rescue of cardiac arrest at the vet's office. They performed CPR and tried to do everything possible to save his life but to no avail. He obviously had a congenital abnormality and an enlarged heart.
We saved him from the puppy mill and before he had a chance to live...he died.
We had him only a couple of days but he touched our hearts deeply in that short time.

You were MY baby, Zeke, for the two days I had you and held you.
I will never forget you.
We will meet again...where the flowers bloom in beautiful hues that never die..........where there is no suffering......no sorrow.......where you are running free......and are finally happy.....
I love you.....
Everything we do,
we do for babies like you................
Love, Laurie

In Memory Of Lily

She withstood her life of misery
Her cage was her domain
The hopelessness, the loneliness
She was a number with no name.

Her eyes had never glistened
No love, her heart had known
Her cries were never answered
Her doom was hers, alone.

Her body, torn and tattered
So weak, so thin and frail
Her small sweet face disfigured,
As she languished in her jail.

Like the others all around her
From neglect she lived in pain
Oh, humans void of heart and souls
Were surely those to blame.

Shrouded behind secrecy
They perpetuate their lies
The puppy mills breed misery
Kept hidden from our eyes.

Then breaking thru the darkness
An angel brought the light
Reaching down with kindness
To alleviate this plight.

And so a few were taken
To be given a new start
And a mission was now realized
From deep within a heart.

Discarded were the numbers,
Now Lily was her name
She was nurtured now and cared for
And the others, just the same.

She responded to the kindness
She was kissed upon her head
Each night as she lay sleeping
In her warm and cozy bed.

From beginnings that were tragic
Lily now embraced the love
But she would only stay a minute
She had lessons up above.

Her life brought inspiration
She taught her humans well
About courage and conviction
To save others from the hell.

Lily's life had purpose
As she endured such strife and pain
She emerged with great forgiveness
Oh, her life was not in vain.

Now the cozy bed is empty
But Lily's memory lingers still
And hundreds more will follow
…..Rescued from the mill.
