StetsonThis beautiful, young boy was found wandering a rural hwy. He appears to be a blue merle Great Dane, possibly hound mix, however this is just a guess. He weighs 75 lbs. Stetson is a very attractive boy with beautiful markings and one blue eye and one half brown, half blue eye. He is a very friendly and appreciative boy who is doing very well and enjoying his life since being rescued. He loves to run and play and loves back rubs. Stets will make a wonderful pet for a family. He gets along well with other dogs and has a gentle disposition. House training reinforcement will be needed in his new home. Fenced yard required. This precious angel has been altered, is UTD on shots, HW negative and is on preventatives. 100.00 adoption fee applies, however any donation(tax deductible receipt available upon request) above our required fee is greatly appreciated and will go towards the care of the many animals permanently and temporarily fostered in our organization. Mei Ling is an approximately 2 year old Lhasa Apso. She was surrendered to the shelter because she bit a child. She also tried to bite a visitor to the home. Mei Ling does not seem to get along well with other dogs, she is somewhat aggressive towards them and very confrontational. We are not yet certain of the extent of her behavioral issues but it is a given that she will need some rehabilitation and that many homes will not be appropriate for this beautiful, but somewhat personality challenged little darling. We will need to rule out any medical reasons for her aggressive tendencies and go from there. At this time Mei Li is unavailable for adoption. We will update her status when she becomes available. This precious angel has been altered, is UTD on shots, HW negative and is on preventatives. Update: June 23: All medical reasons for Mei Ling's behavior have been ruled out. It simply seems to be a behavioral issue. She is adjusting well in her foster home but definitely does not like people coming near her that she doesn't know and if someone tries to pet her or pick her up and she is not receptive to the idea, she will bite. She can be sweet and then bite, she is extremely unpredictable. Unfortunately we can't adopt her out at this point as we feel she needs further evaluation/rehabilitation. We will post further updates as warranted. Mei-Ling is being fostered in Eastern, TN.

Update: Sept:8 Mei-Ling continues to show aqgression to strangers and is a threat to bite so she will become a long term foster of Asian Dog Rescue.

Aptaysia

NOT AVAILABLE

Aptasia (Ap-tay-zha)is a beautiful 1 year old Lhasa Apso. She is a sweet baby who weighs 13 lbs. Aptasia is extremely playful, fun loving and full of pep and joy. She loves her "person" and gives kisses and loves sleeping with you and sitting with you. This little beauty queen is quite the little watchdog, she always lets you know when she hears visitors or strange noises. Aptasia is not good around other dogs or cats and can be very possessive over food, toys and her "person". She has the beginnings of aggressive tendencies and although great with her foster mom, she has nipped at others. Due to this fact she is unavailable for adoption at this time. We'd like to evaluate her for a couple of months and work with her so hopefully she will be a good adoption candidate in the future. We will update her bio when she makes progress and/or becomes available for adoption.
Update: July 27:
Aptaysia is a strong willed Lhasa. She continues to be aggressive and is unpredictable. She can and will bite if it suits her. While we love her, accept these issues and care for her, (because we are a rescue that does not euthanise or turn these types of dogs away) we cannot make her available for adoption at this time. We are continuing to work with her.
Update: Sept. 8: There is no change in Aptasia, she remains unadoptable and a long term foster of Asian Dog Rescue. Aptaysia is being fostered in SC.

PERMANANT FOSTER OF ASIAN DOG RESCUE

Caylei is a Shih Tzu. She is a very sweet and smart baby who already loves giving kisses and playing with her toys. She is a beautiful brindle/gold/white with a black mask. Caylei was taken to a shelter after she was thought to be developing vision and medical problems. An initial exam revealed no evident eye problems and general good health. However after Caylei has spent more time in foster care it appears that there may indeed be a problem, however we aren't certain of the cause or even what the problem may be. Most of the time Caylei is a playful, happy, healthy acting puppy, however occassionally she appears disoriented and as if she is unaware of her surroundings. Something just doesn't seem right even though nothing medically wrong has been found up to this point. We will continue to monitor her in foster care and do whatever necessary to find the cause of any medical problem, if any. Should Caylei have extensive medical issues she will not be put up for adoption and will remain in our foster care until all medical needs have been addressed.

UPDATE: Caylei has been diagnosed with congenital Hydrocephalus and will remain in permanant foster care in our organization. At this point she is doing relatively well and is a happy and playful baby, however we expect problems to develop in her future. Please check back periodically for new pictures and updates on Caylei as we do everything we can to make certain Caylei has the best quality of life possible while dealing with this condition. UPDATE: We have updated Caylei's pictures and as you can see she is darling. She has however had 2 seizures that are associated with her condition. At this point they have determined that surgery is not the preferable treatment so she is on medication to try to control her seizures and condition. Periodic updates and pictures will be posted.
UPDATE: Caylei is doing well. She has only had one minor seizure in the past several weeks. She is playful, loving and sweet. She feels most secure with another dog constantly by her side and loves to play with her canine friends. Caylei is still under medical care and is not available for adoption (to anyone) as this is a serious condition which may require surgery in the future. If she ever becomes available for adoption we will note it here in an update. We are keeping her listing up because many people have asked us to so they can follow her progress and see updated photos of this beautiful little baby.
UPDATE: Caylei is doing really well considering all things involved. She has had no new seizures and is growing up to be a very beautiful little girl. We have deemed Caylei a "permanent foster" of Asian Dog Rescue and she will never be available for adoption. She has too many probable health problems in her future and is happy and secure with us and we will not make any changes in her life. We will continue to update her bio and pictures for everyone.
UPDATE JUNE: Cayli continues to do well. She has turned into such a beautiful young girl. She has had no new seizures recently and the fluid in her brain is now minimal, however her condition still very much exists and recurring seizures and aditional fluid build up are always a concern. Caylei's regular vet care, medication, specialized diet with many supplements such as fish oil, omega 3's, Missing Link, Synovi 3 V caps and several others have greatly contributed to her general health and well being. Caylei also eats home cooked meals. Salmon, lean chicken, sweet potatoes, brown rice, blueberries, flax seed, asparagus and green beans. This major medical issue could have been fatal but is now under control, without yet needing surgical intervention, due to proper care and nutrition. This is a relatively common problem in Shih Tzus and Chihuahuas but there can be success in dealing with it and it does not have to be a death sentence. Caylei is happy and so far doing very well. We will continue to periodically post updated pictures and update her staus. Caylei is being fostered in Eastern, TN.

Update: September: Caylei continues to thrive in rescue. She is kept closely monitored medically and has responded favorably to all courses of holistic treatments and home cooked meals and supplements. Caylei is a timid and shy little girl who can be startled easily and needs constant reassurance which she gets. Caylei is happy in her familiar atmosphere and loves to play and is content. Once taken out of that environment she is nervous and wary. She will continue her residency at ADR and get the best possible care. Please Sponsor Me Please Sponsor Me

Update March 4, 2010: Caylei is doing very well! She has no more fluid build up in her brain and she has had no new seizures. She is on a very controlled diet with many supplements and has weekly vet visits. She is very happy that her best friend Ming Ming, the little 4 lb., 1.5 yr. old Shih Tzu we rescued as a puppy with eye problems, (since resolved) is now back to live with her where they can be friends forever. June had adopted Ming Ming but kindly brought her back to Caylei and Laurie after Caylei lost her 2 best friends, Bandit and Sumei, within just a few days of each other. Ming Ming's return had a dramatic effect on Caylei and brought her out of her depression. She is now happy, and so glad that little Ming Ming is back to stay with her forever! Even though Caylei is doing well, there still is always a potential for the seizures to come back or her health to deteriorate, but with her strict regimen and fantastic vet care we are hopeful that never happens. It has been a long, rough road for her since we rescued her as a tiny puppy over a year ago, but she is a fighter and has responded so well to her treatments. We will post additional updates and photos periodically. We have just posted a new photo below and pictures of little Ming Ming can be found on our index page. She's the one with the white outfit and hat opposite the Pug and she is in another picture wearing the bunny ears :)
